Allgäu Winter Wonderland – IVE Hardcore Test

Allgäu Winter Wonderland – IVE Hardcore Test

December in the Allgäu region – the landscape blanketed in pristine snow, the sun glittering on every single ice crystal. Andi, a native of the Allgäu, a die-hard Tyrell fan and ambassador, couldn't resist: a spontaneous day trip was a must. Destination: 50 kilometers of pure winter magic along a breathtaking Alpine panorama.

The snow had been lying there for weeks, compacted by walkers, hikers, and winter excursionists – the perfect conditions for a folding bike adventure. Fresh powder snow? No, thank you! Even 28-inch mountain bike tires would have quickly struggled here. Instead, the packed snow provided perfect grip – just right for putting the Tyrell IVE through its paces.

Andi set off for Seeg by train, where the temperature was just below freezing. From there, his tour began: via Rückholz, past Schneidbach, where he crossed the Wertach river, to the picturesque Rottachsee lake for a short breather. Afterwards, he continued rolling through endless snow-covered expanses to Immenstadt. Fifty kilometers of winter perfection, in glorious weather, all on a folding bike.

Of course, the equipment was crucial: the 50 mm wide, knobby Billy Bonkers tires were essential. The tire pressure was reduced to a minimum of 2 bar – enough to ensure the tires conformed nicely to the rim without pinching. This was complemented by wide handlebars with ergonomic grips, two Fidlock bottle cages, a front rack for camera equipment, a rear rack, and additional top tube bags from a gravel bike.

The combination of wheel, tires, and carefully chosen pressure made the tour a unique experience. Packed snow, sunshine, mountain panorama – and a folding bike that can handle it all. It proves that even alpine winter adventures are no problem with the Tyrell IVE ;-) (as long as the snow is packed down).

We'll let the pictures speak for themselves – but one thing is clear: It's amazing what's possible with a folding bike.
